TRAINING PROGRAMS
We believe in a training program that is catered to each dog’s strengths and weaknesses. Dogs, like people, all have their own personality. Certain dogs will progress quicker and require new challenges. Comparable to what happens in many classrooms, I am the teacher and it is my responsibility to make sure that each dog reaches their highest potential and no one gets left behind.
Gun & Bird Dog Training
A dog that has completed the gun dog training program will be a turn-key dog. Load 'em up and go hunting! Programs can be modified to fit your hunting preference - Waterfowl, Upland, or Both.

- Basic Obedience (Sit, Heel, Here, Kennel)
- Force Fetch
- Collar Condition
- Introduction to Gun
- Introduction to Birds
- Introduction to Marked Retrieves
TRAINING PROGRAM INVESTMENT:
- $859.65 (tax included) per month includes food (VICTOR Purpose Performance) and training program.
- Bird fees, travel fees, handling fees, transportation fee to hunt test, and entry fees for hunt tests are the responsibility of the client (dog owner).
HUNT TESTS
While you may not be looking to buy a dog for field trialing, the fact is that competition reveals which dogs have the best trainability and natural ability.
Hunt Tests improves your dog's retrieving ability while also adding value to their pedigree. You will not only get a dog that is an enjoyable companion in the field but a dog that is valuable for breeding.
What sets Diamond K Kennels apart is that we Title dogs in all three major retriever venues: APLA, AKC, and HRC.
Hunt Test Organizations
- American Pointing Labrador Association
Tests for retrieving ability but also the dog's ability to point in upland hunting - American Kennel Club
AKC focuses on technical skill and presents more of a challenge - Hunting Retriever Gear
Geared towards real/live duck hunting experiences
Retriever training
Dogs in this program would be working toward achieving AKC, UKC, and APLA hunt test titles.
